Paper plate lion – The Craft Balloon

This is a pleasurable paper plate craft for all ages, but particularly wonderful for younger young children doing work on scissor abilities

So today’s craft is a paper plate lion.

This lion craft came about, not due to the fact we went to the zoo or watched a documentary about lions (or something wise like that), but since we have been dancing about the living space to the sounds of ‘Circle of Life’ from the Lion King (what a song).

After significantly dancing about and singing, we turned our notice to crafts and below we are.

This kids’ lion craft is designed out of a paper plate and one particular piece of cardstock – it’s genuinely extremely basic.

And so without further more ado, crank up the Lion King soundtrack and get a paper plate. Here’s how to make it.

How to make a paper plate lion, action by stage

Stage 1

The very first move is to paint your paper plate.

We employed acrylic paints as they include the plate really effectively and you only actually need to have one coat.

Start off with an orange base coat.

Step 2

As soon as the orange paint has dried, pick some other paints to insert some far more colour and curiosity to the lion’s mane.

We went for brown, yellow and a little bit of shimmery gold paint as well.

Include stripes to the plate, starting off in the center of the plate and brushing outwards.

After you’re concluded including stripes, your plate may glance some thing like this:

Move 3

Following, it is time to grab the scissors. More youthful little ones may need a bit of enable below.

To produce the lion’s mane, make smallish cuts around the edge of the plate, towards the middle of the plate. The cuts we designed in the plate had been amongst 1 and 2 inches very long.

As soon as you have manufactured cuts all the way all-around the plate, pull some of the tiny sections ahead and push some again (to make mane seem much less flat and a little bit more 3D).

Phase 4

On yellow card or paper, attract the lion’s confront and two roundish ears. Cut these out.

The lion’s face can be as straightforward, thorough, real looking or cartoony as you want.

For case in point, for young children it can simply just be two round eyes, a nose and mouth on a circle of card.

Move 5

Next, glue the lion’s confront and two ears onto the paper plate mane.

Action 6

To end off, we snipped some of the corners off the lower sections to make the lion’s mane a minor fewer spherical.

And with that, your lion is completed.
